People Development Manager
We connect freelancers and companies to build the world of tomorrow
At Comet, we are convinced that it will not be technology, but humans, who will determine the future of work. At a time when the entrepreneurial path is echoing a generation in search of meaning, many engineers choose to become freelancers.
The mission of Comet's team is to build today the way in which freelancers will work tomorrow.
What are your values?
We are a startup founded in 2016 by three friends. What constituted comet's DNA was firstly its transparent, benevolent and festive culture. The team has grown but it's still an aspect of the culture that is important to us. We regularly have team drinks which are sometimes spontaneously organised and sometimes not, weekends, even weeks of team building - castle, yurts or a festival in Corsica, experiences follow each other but they are not the same...! This role is endorsed here by the People team as well as by our Chief of Staff, right arm and guarantor of the experience employed by Comet.
Has a particular context encouraged the implementation of Random Lunch?
The comet adventure is experiencing significant growth, the issues evolve and move to another scale. The team naturally follows this trend. The context was evolving towards more employees and less time to get to know each other individually. Yet, we are all aware that the team and the links between each member are one of our greatest strengths. It would be a shame to not keep the cool imagination of the startup. Proximity, ease of exchange and goodwill always appear as elements to be preserved, even encouraged.
What goals do Random Lunch meet at Comet?
First of all, we wanted to encourage links between startup employees: the Random Lunch format seems to be conducive to real discussion and favoured by its scheduled and unrestrictive format. On the other hand, a group of four allows newcomers to meet people from other teams more easily and to discover comet culture over a friendly meal.In our offices, a large table in the central room usually allows us to have lunch on the spot. Meeting in small groups in a rather special context outside the office vitalises and reinvents lunch as a team!
How did you implement Random Lunch?
We experienced Random Lunch because most of our employees attended the Lion training by The Family. I realised how effective the format was. The implementation process has been fairly fast and has been unanimously adopted within the team, especially since lunch is an important break in our daily life and must be pleasant! It is also an initiative that facilitates office life and allows those who are interested to participate without constraint.
